The Winterthur Research Fellowship Program is delighted to offer financial support to eligible candidates at all stages of their professional careers through short-term and dissertation fellowships. Advanced scholars may apply for a Winterthur- or NEH-funded postdoctoral fellowship, while our Maker-Creator Fellowships are available for individuals working within creative fields or practices. These awards give researchers from all disciplines unparalleled access to an independent research library and museum whose collections encourage understanding of the Americas in a global context from the 17th to the 20th centuries, set in a 1,000-acre estate of preserved meadows and farmland with a world-class naturalistic garden.

Our fellowship experiences invigorate researchers as they look closely at diverse collections with expert staff, find new insights and inspiration, and join a generous, supportive scholarly community.

Fellowships offered

We particularly encourage applications that offer new and critical scholarly approaches to the library, museum, and garden collections. We hope you’ll consider utilizing Winterthur’s collections again to support your newest project.
